com/postings/2038 *Job Summary:* This is a grant funded position with salary of $38,000 annually.
The TRIO SSS Transfer/Career Specialist is primarily responsible for participating in recruitment and identification of project participants, obtaining and ensuring the accuracy of student information for program intake, preparing and monitoring success plans for 40% of the students served, assisting participants with admissions procedures and requirements at transfer institutions, coordinating transfer trips to various institutions, coordinating career assessment and career advising procedures, maintaining participant records including individual student folders documenting program eligibility, and contributing to a positive campus climate conducive to participant success.
*Required Knowledge and Skills:* Ability to work effectively with low-income, first generation, and disabled students in need of supportive services and their families.
Knowledge and proficiency in the operation and use of personal computers utilizing various software applications (i.
e.
, word processing, spreadsheet, and database management software) including the Internet.
Strong communications skills (written and verbal) and the ability to present information to diverse audiences.
Ability to work and cooperate with faculty, students, directors, the public, and employees at all levels in order to exchange ideas, information, and opinions.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities to encounter students struggling with classes, needing disability services, students who need help communicating with faculty/staff, students dealing with emotional, personal, and academic issues, as well as the daily struggle to find good contact methods to communicate with students.
*Required Education and Experience:* Bachelor’s degree; Background similar or experience in dealing with disadvantaged students.
*Preferred Qualifications:* Master’s preferred in Counseling, Education, or related field; experience in field of career counseling; experience in a two-year college setting, with emphasis placed upon transfer to four-year institution; and experience in TRIO programs.
