Responsibilities Provides Power Plant Control System design, implementation, programming, configuration, commissioning, & testing of Power Generation Control & Auxiliary Systems.
Oversee control system software management program to include acceptance testing and deployment of software upgrades and patches on a controlled schedule.
Design, implement and support communication networks for control system applications.
Manage/Lead projects, provide controls engineering support in parallel, and oversee vendor/contractor support when needed.
Investigate technologies that will improve plant operation and performance (e.
g.
affordable, responsible, reliable) and technologies that will assist with control system maintenance and analysis.
Assists power plant personnel on maintenance, troubleshooting, and operations of electrical and control systems and equipment.
Plant assistance during startup and operation can include after hours and weekends as needed to maintain system reliability.
Perform due diligence for plant acquisition and evaluation of control system and instrumentation specifications for projects.
Due to our obligation to provide continuous, reliable electric service to our customers, the ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance and the ability to work outside your regularly scheduled office hours when necessary is essential function of the job.
The ability to handle stress and work well with others are essential functions of this position.
Minimum Qualifications Pursuant to the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Act 593, this position is a designated safety-sensitive position according to AECC/AECI standards and processes.
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
Must meet eligibility requirements to take Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
Minimum Experience Required Engineer II: Minimum 2 years’ experience required.
Preferred Qualifications Professional Engineer license in the State of Arkansas.
Experience directly related to Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) at power plants or related heavy industrial applications.
Experience with Industrial Control Systems such as Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and/or Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and SCADA systems and associated control system devices, computers, communications, networks, endpoint devices, and instrumentation.
Experience and foundation with Ethernet network switches and serial digital communications, including third party datalink protocols (Modbus, DNP, AB-PLC).
Experience with AutoCAD software.
Strong knowledge and experience of power plant controls, steam turbine control systems, combustion turbine control systems, balance of plant control systems.
Strong computer skills foundation as relates to operating systems, controls system software, and communications software.
Understanding of server virtualization, routing, and switching.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Knowledge of electric power systems desirable.
Knowledge of power plant processes desirable.
Knowledge of automation controllers and ladder logic desirable.
Experience with AutoCAD software is desirable.
